If you are an active Google AdWords user, then you will save a
lot of time with Jeff Alderson's Adword
Analyzer. It is a simple and yet effective solution to
solve the problem of every AdWords user - how to research supply vs.
demand for keywords.
What Adword Analyzer does is basically allowing you to type
in a search term and then it will find a list of related search terms and
show you the total number of searches, number of Adwords and Overture
campaigns for comparison. You can do this manually, but automation will
save you a whole lot of time.
For example, you can type in say "fleece
jackets" in Google and it will return a number of Adwords ads on the
resulting search page. You will have to count the number of ads on each
search page if there are more than 8. Plus, you'll also have to do that
for Overture.
Here's a screenshot from a search of the term "fleece
jackets":
As
you can see, you get other related search terms that appear on Google and
Overture. How does this data help you? Well, if you look at the 4th column
from the left - R/S ratio - this tells you the relative popularity of the
search term with respect to the number of pages found containing the
search term. A low R/S ratio tells you that there is a lot of demand for
the keyword. Now let's move to the supply side. This is
shown as the number of Google and Overture campaigns. If there is a high
number of Overture campaigns but a low number of Google campaigns, this is
an indication of low supply. Together with a low R/S ratio, this is the
scenario where an Adwords campaign would have a high probability of
success. Don't let the software's simplicity fool you. It
is extremely useful. I use it myself daily to research new keywords.
This product gets 2 thumbs up and I
highly recommend it. Click here for the Adword
