How to Start Your Own Blog
The easiest and fastest way to start your very own blog is by
using Blogger.com. Blogger.com
is Google's free service for people who want to start a blog. You
don't have to have your own domain name or website. You can have
everything hosted on Blogger.com.
You can set up your account and start blogging within minutes. It's
very simple, really. First, you'll want to pick a name for your blog.
You'll also need to choose a subdomain for your blog. For instance,
if your blog will be about birdwatching, then your blog URL can be
"birdwatching.blogspot.com". You'll find out if the subdomain you
selected is available. It may be unavailable if somebody else has
already selected that name. In anycase, you can try "birdwatchingsite"
or "birdwatchers". You get the idea.
Once you have chosen the name and subdomain for your blog, you'll be
asked to choose a template for your blog. There are quite a few
ready-made templates to choose from. You can change the template by
going into the settings at any time in the future, but if you make
any customizations, those will be lost.
Once you have your blog set up, you can announce it to your friends
and to the world. There are sites where blogs are listed in a
directory format - otherwise known as blog directories. There is a
setting called "Ping Weblogs" that you'll want to enable. Pinging
tells the directory site that your blog has been updated everytime
you make a post. Another popular place to ping your blog is
Pingomatic.
