Review of Nicheology: Ready-Made Content for Niche Marketing

Jimmy D. Brown and Ryan Deiss just launched Nicheology this week (5/11/04). Here's a little background on how this site came to be. Jimmy D. Brown started Profit Vaults Monthly (PVM) which you may have heard of. Basically, what PVM does (and here I'm only writing about what I've read from reviews posted online as I was not a member of PVM) is to provide members with 2 new products each month that comes with resale rights so you are free to resell them. Nicheology goes along those lines, except that the products aren't related to Internet Marketing. These are so-called "niche products" which are catered toward specialized markets

"What's a niche?" Someone asked me this week. Here's a simple explanation. If you're selling pizza, that's not a niche as there are tons of other places selling pizza. If you're selling pizza topped only with organically grown vegetables, that's a niche. It sets you apart from others.

Here's the low down on Nicheology. Membership is $27 per month. There is a two-tier affiliate program - hence why so many people are promoting it. If you sign someone up under you, you get $10 per month. Sign up 3 people, and your membership is free. If any of the people who sign up under you also introduce new members, you get $10 for each person as well.

But that's just ONE way to make money with Nicheology - the hard way in my opinion.

The other way is to actually use the products (or rather content) that's provided with the membership and package your own products and have your own website.

So far, the content packages include: how to quit smoking, how to get rid of headaches, how to lose weight, and online dating. These are pages of rich text format that you can re-package and sell anyway you like - as an ebook, email course, incentive to sign up for something, etc. You're only limited by your imagination. Granted, these are not exactly "niche" areas according to my understanding of the term, BUT they can be targeted to niche markets with some modification. For example, you can use the content provided and modify it to narrow down the specific market you are selling to. For example, instead of just online dating, you can change it to "how to avoid online dating scams" or "online dating for seniors" or "how to start your own online dating site" - you get the idea.

What's the rationale behind the choice of the particular topics covered in Nicheology? First, it cannot be too small of a market because there will be no money in it. If only 15 people are interested in a particular area, you are not going to make a lot of sales, right? These topics are ones that have a considerable amount of people searching for them. Anywhere from 30,000 to 100,000 searches per month.

Now, the key is that since the content is largely provided, you can save time and money and focus on the marketing (which is usually the fun part). How much time do you save? Just think of the amount of research needed to write an ebook. Sure, you can hire someone to ghostwrite it for you. That usually runs anywhere from $500 to $1000 per project. Plus, 2 new packages will be added each month.

In addition to the content packages, you are also provided with a sales letter template for each product and research into supply and demand of the market. Use the sales letter to give you some ideas, but don't use it verbatim.

For those who need more help with marketing, there are also articles, videos and recorded seminars provided with the membership. The training materials are very good. Plus, if you don't wish to continue after trying it out, you can cancel your membership and still get to keep everything that you've downloaded.

So... is Nicheology another hype? Maybe not. I think it has a lot of potential if you use it right and put some work into it. You might say that if there are so many people promoting the same bunch of products, wouldn't the market become saturated? Yes, it will to a degree. That's why it's important to use your creativity to modify and re-package. Set yourself apart from the others.

Here's a special report written by Jimmy about Nicheology. Check it out.

If you're intrigued, take it for a spin. What's there to lose? $27? That's less than a dollar a day - cheaper than a cup of coffee.
